Treecreepers
Treecreepers is a weekly outdoor stay and play session, aimed at children aged 18 months to 4 years (or older in school holidays!), with their parents and carers.
What is Treecreepers?
Treecreepers is an outdoor toddler group aimed at children aged 18 months to 4 years, with their parents and carers. It takes place most Thursday mornings in term time.
During each session, there is the opportunity to sing songs, read stories, and enjoy free play in the woods. Each week there is also a suggested activity on a different theme, that can be adapted for younger or older children. A healthy snack is provided.
Each session takes place in Dragon Wood, part of Birdwood Coppice. This is a beautiful ancient wood just off the A40, behind the Kings Head in Birdwood. There are trees to climb, places to explore, cool shade in summer, and carpets of flowers in spring. Car parking is available at the entrance to the wood, and then it’s a 15-20 minute walk (at toddler pace) to the Treecreepers site. We always have a walk-in activity to keep everyone motivated for the walk, and a trolley to transport bags (and occasionally tired toddlers).
Sometimes we run extra sessions in the holidays – these may be on different days of the week, and usually older siblings in Reception and Years 1 and 2 are welcome. Some holiday sessions may be aimed at primary-age children. Please see below for dates and details.
